We have an exciting opportunity available for a motivated and experienced Biodiversity Ranger, to join us as key members of the Countryside Service team here at Wokingham Borough Council, on a full-time, Permanent basis.&nbsp;

As our Biodiversity Ranger, you’ll play a key role in delivering practical habitat management, ecological surveying and biodiversity projects across the borough. Your work will help protect and enhance wildlife, support Biodiversity Net Gain delivery, and ensure our countryside sites are managed in a sustainable and evidence-led way.
About the Role
This is a hands-on, specialist role focused on supporting biodiversity conservation and habitat management across the council’s countryside estate. Working under the direction of the Countryside Officer (Operations), you will help deliver surveying, reporting and land management that underpin effective site management and Biodiversity Net Gain outcomes.
You will carry out wildlife and habitat surveys, maintain monitoring systems and produce reports that inform management plans and funding bids. Alongside this, you’ll deliver practical habitat management, including meadow management, grazing arrangements and wider estate tasks, working closely with colleagues, contractors and external partners.
The role combines fieldwork, data handling and coordination, with opportunities to shape how biodiversity projects are delivered across a diverse portfolio of sites. You’ll also support and supervise Estate Rangers and seasonal staff, contributing to a collaborative and skilled ranger service.
This role suits someone who is organised, knowledgeable and motivated by achieving real outcomes for wildlife through a balance of practical delivery and informed planning.

<li>Contribute to the continuing improvement of the SEND Service for pupil and their families, promoting the Local Authority’s values and working in collaboration with rest of the SEND Service.</li>
<li>To work collaboratively with families, schools and other key partner agencies for individual children and young people with SEND to ensure they are educated and are in receipt of appropriate provision that is in line with their holistic needs.</li>

Administration– Managing bookings for burials and cremations, verifying documentation, maintaining accurate records, and supporting families with enquiries. Contract Management – Overseeing contractors to ensure cemeteries are maintained to our service standards, including grounds care, site cleaning, and grave preparation. You will be based at our award-winning Oak Hill Lawn Cemetery &amp; Crematorium five days per week (including some Saturdays on a rota basis), with travel required to cemeteries and other council offices and sites across the borough. You will have a UK full driving license. The ability to converse with ease with members of the public and to provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for this post.
