This Committee reviews the effectiveness of our governance and risk management arrangements.
As an Independent member on the Committee, you will serve an important role bringing independent scrutiny to the Committee’s work.
You’ll need to have the skills and experience in one or more of the following areas: local government, governance, audit, finance risk management and internal control. You should also have a connection with the Sevenoaks District, for example living or working here. You’ll need to attend around four evening committee meetings each year.
The post is not open to anyone who is, or has within the last five years, been a Sevenoaks District Councillor or employee or has close relatives or friends at the Council.

Woking Borough Council has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced professional to join our busy and dedicated Housing Standards Team as a Housing Standards Officer on a full time, permanent basis.
Reporting to the Senior Housing Standards Officer, in this role you'll be responsible for improving housing standards across the Borough by working pro-actively and providing advice and guidance, undertaking detailed property inspections, and taking appropriate enforcement action using a wide range of relevant legislation, including licensing, to reduce hazards in housing in the private sector. The London Situational Awareness Team provides real-time situational awareness and acts as the first point of contact for the London Resilience Partnership in major incidents, ensuring coordinated communication and enabling a swift, proactive response to incidents and events across London.
<h2>About the role</h2>
As a Situational Awareness Officer, you will serve as the key point of contact for the Greater London Authority (GLA) during your shift, providing vital early warnings, incident monitoring, and maintaining situational awareness on real-time events. You will be tasked with producing accurate, timely, and analytically sound reports in response to unfolding situations, ensuring that decision-makers have the information they need to act quickly and effectively. Additionally, you will work to maintain the flow of information between the GLA, government departments, and other key stakeholders, helping to ensure clarity and consistency in the response to incidents.
In this role, you will build and cultivate relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that intelligence, briefings, and reports are delivered consistently and accurately. Your ability to deliver both written and oral reports to senior staff and other stakeholders, while highlighting critical issues and potential impacts, will be essential. Your insight will help shape the GLA's response to various events across the city, making your contribution crucial to maintaining London's operational resilience.
To succeed in this role, you will bring proven experience in open-source intelligence and collection methodologies, with the ability to transform this information into actionable insights. A strong understanding of information management principles and data protection legislation is key, alongside experience providing guidance during incidents. Excellent communication skills are essential, enabling you to present complex information clearly and concisely. Proven success in diverse and demanding work settings will be beneficial, as will your ability to foster collaboration across different teams and disciplines. You must also be prepared to work on a 24/7 rotational shift pattern (covering both day and nights shifts) to ensure continuous coverage in this vital role.
Due to the nature of the role, you must be willing to undergo National Security Vetting to the level of Security Check (SC), having lived and worked in the UK for at least the last five years. Individuals will not be expected to hold existing National Security Vetting in order to apply for the posts.

A position has arisen for an enthusiastic individual with great communication skills to join our Town Planning administration and support withing the Development Management service, based at the Town Hall, Brentwood. &nbsp;The Planning Administration team handles the administrative and technical process involved in the submission, registration, validation, notification and determination of the 1200 + planning and related applications received each year, as well as various tasks associated with planning appeals.&nbsp;
Based at the Town Hall offices in Brentwood Town Centre for essential training, meetings and support with the possibility for hybrid arrangements, you will be part of a busy and proactive team, working in a paperless environment. &nbsp;Initially dealing with validation and registration of planning applications and enforcement cases, you will also provide administrative support to both the Admin Team Leader and Planning Officers throughout the application process, including preparations for Planning Committee meetings. Administrative duties in connection with the issuing of notices for the collection of Community Infrastructure Levy payments is also a requirement of the role.&nbsp;
The role will require extensive use of the Council’s document management and database systems so strong IT literacy is essential and as the role involves working with plans and architectural drawings, an interest in and ability to interpret these would be desirable.&nbsp; Training and support will be given.&nbsp;

The successful candidate will enjoy a busy and varied working schedule, liaising with staff, parents, pupils and visitors to the school.
