We have a new opportunity for a Repairs Surveyor to join our Housing Asset Team. As a Repairs Surveyor you will carry out surveys, property and disrepair inspections and oversea the delivery of sub-contracted repairs to ensure repairs are highlighted and completed in accordance with Woking Borough Councils standards and timeframes.
Reporting to our Housing Repairs Manager you will carry out surveys to properties within the Woking region including Damp and Mould inspections. You will be responsible for diagnosing the cause of complex faults and failures and post inspect works supporting Woking properties to ensure that high quality works are delivered within budget, on time safely and to a high standard whilst achieving and maintaining customer satisfaction KPI’s while ensuring value for money is achieved through the delivery of effective procurement and management of repairs.
The successful candidate will be customer focused, and have great customer service skills and the ability to work autonomously to improve our property standards. An experienced and highly knowledgeable repairs surveyor.
A full driver's licence and access to your own vehicle is essential for this role.

It’s an exciting time to join the Community Wellbeing team within Spelthorne. We developed and built temporary accommodation for families, and purpose built supported accommodation for single homeless residents and continue to look for opportunities for permanent and temporary housing solutions. We have just launched our ambitious Homelessness &amp; Rough Sleeping Strategy 2025-2030 which aims to end the use of bed and breakfast accommodation, promote independence and wellbeing, and maximise the use of the private rented sector for homelessness prevention and relief. We are working closely with partners to deliver innovative and appropriate options to facilitate discharge from hospital and prevent admissions.
In addition to all this, the Council is embarking on an ambitious housing delivery programme to meet the housing needs of local residents, including a significant proportion of affordable homes.
To support this work, we are looking for a new Strategic Lead for Housing. A large part of the role is to proactively engage with internal colleagues and external partners to enable affordable housing delivery. You will develop and lead the Council’s effective partnerships with Registered Providers and Homes England, as well as representing the housing service on internal development working groups in order to achieve this.
Together with your solid understanding of the economic and social issues that affect housing supply and demand locally, you will have a proven track record and significant experience in strategy policy and preparation. You will be an expert in housing and homelessness legislation as you will need to translate guidance, best practice, and case law into understandable and workable solutions.
You will be comfortable working with numbers and data in spreadsheets and databases and be able to translate the same into plain English for a variety of audiences. You will be able to use this data to not only drive business cases and funding bids, which will see new services commissioned in line with the Council’s strategic aims, but also to contract manage existing services. To do this effectively, you will need excellent ICT skills.
You will lead a small but effective team which you will be expected to coach and support. You will also support the Team Manager, Housing Options to ensure the Council’s statutory homelessness service is run according to legislation, statutory guidance, case law and best practice.
This is an exciting opportunity to make your mark in Spelthorne, and in doing so, support some of the most vulnerable residents in our community.
This post is identified as a hybrid post supporting both office and home working in line with Spelthorne Borough Council’s policy. The post holder will be required to attend the office in line with a rota and any service requirements. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; About the Role In this fast paced and exciting role, you will make a difference for our residents who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and in housing need. Our Homeless Prevention &amp; Relief Officers are on the frontline in proactively working with households facing homelessness to sustain their accommodation where possible or assist with securing alternative accommodation.
 You will be responsible for managing your own caseload and providing excellent customer service to our residents. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our Community Services team and work with the adaptations and rehousing teams across Waverley &amp; Guildford.&nbsp; We need a motivated and well organised professional to enhance and grow the services provided to disabled persons in both boroughs.
The team administers renovation grants and disabled facilities grants, as well as adaptations in Guildford’s own council stock. There is an in-house Home Improvement agency, Care and Repair and a dedicated handyperson service.
You will manage our small team of housing Occupational Therpist’s and bathing advisor, carry out home assessments, order major adaptations, give expert advice on transfers, new build housing schemes and generally provide a source of expertise on disability issues.
This is a hybrid role with a mix of Office and home working.

The Housing Management team is a small but busy team providing an extensive and responsive property management service to homeless clients placed into temporary accommodation procured by the council.&nbsp; Sitting within the Welfare and Housing service, the team support each other by working closely together to achieve the right results by using a holistic approach with clients who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.&nbsp;
<h3>Key responsibilities...</h3>

<li>To provide a high-quality income management service and be responsible for the arrears management and income collection of a specified caseload.</li>
<li>Maximising income through the effective collection of rent and service charge income, giving appropriate advice and guidance to residents in respect of rent, other tenancy charges and arrears.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Take a proactive approach to recover and prevent rent arrears through the management of individual rent arrears cases. Ensuring that tenants are notified of any arrears at the earliest opportunity, including setting of arrangements, issuing statements or recommending further steps such as court action in line with agreed procedures and targets.</li>
<li>Engage with residents in order to negotiate and sustain payment arrangements through a variety of communication methods. Contact will include home visits and working outside of core hours where necessary.</li>
<li>Assist tenants in maximising income and give advice or where appropriate, referrals on money management matters, empowering and signposting residents to find solutions and appropriate support.</li>

Do you have experience of working in a busy customer facing environment whilst completing administrative tasks, and a knowledge of housing issues and challenges?
If so, we have an exciting trainee opportunity to join our Housing Options team and help us meet the need of homeless people in Waverley.
This trainee role combines front facing customer service with important back-office administration duties. The successful applicant will work under appropriate supervision and have an action plan to support them from starting as a trainee to becoming a capable Housing Options Officer.
Whilst working under supervision, the successful applicant will find out essential background information regarding customers’ circumstances and provide initial advice as to the Council’s statutory homelessness duties. They will work towards identifying and making relevant enquiries, conducting Full Housing Assessments, drawing up/updating Personal Housing Plans with reasonable steps, and accepting, discharging, and ending homelessness duties on behalf of the Council.
The role will be mainly office based, but we also need candidates to have the ability to effectively work from home, when required.

Do you want to be part of an experienced, successful, and enthusiastic team?
We are looking for a highly motivated team player to join our Housing Options Team.
The Housing Options Team areresponsible for preventing and relieving homelessness under the Homelessness Reduction Action 2017 and as well as managing the Council’s Housing Register.
Reporting to the Housing Options Manager you will carry out assessments of homeless applications to determine what statutory duties are owed to customers. You will then help customers either retain their existing accommodation or help them secure alternative accommodation.
You will have your own caseload and participate in the team’s duty rota.
The role requires excellent communication and negotiation skills with a wide range of people and organisations.
Your experience of working in a challenging front line homelessness or similar service will help you to remain calm under pressure while delivering the highest levels of customer service.
You will have a good understanding of the homelessness legislation and state benefits as well as having excellent IT skills and the ability to keep accurate records and meet deadlines.&nbsp;
